R&S Chalet Collection are based in Morzine which is located in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski resort (also known as the Gateway to the Sun). The PDS consists of 13 resorts across 2 countries with more than 650km of pistes for you to discover. The resort ranks amongst the 2nd largest ski areas in the world and whether you are travelling as a family, friends or a couple there is so much to explore.
As you may have seen already there's a selection of different lift passes that you can purchase during your stay in Morzine. The prices vary depending on ages and how many days you would like to ski but the main difference is the area that the lift passes cover. The Portes du Soliel pass gives you access across the whole Portes du Soleil – that's a huge 650km of pistes across both France and Switzerland. The other is a smaller, more local pass covering Pleney, Nyon, Les Gets and over to Mont Chery. Both passes will allow you to explore beautiful parts of the Portes du Soleil and both have a range of green, blue, red and black runs so there is something for all abilities.
Portes du Soleil
Which is the best option for me?
If staying you're with us for a week we would usually advise that the Morzine/Les Gets pass is suitable for beginners or those that only ski a limited amount. The larger PDS pass allows you to venture further afield and cover more ground, this option would be beneficial for intermediate to advanced skiers.
It is always a good idea to weigh up the costs of the passes against your goals for the week. Some of our guests are here to cover ground and explore the mountains where as others are here to work on their technique or learn a new sport from scratch. You can compare the various costs on our lift pass page http://www.rschaletcollection.com/lift-passes/ . The difference in price for a big or a small 6 day pass is €61 and a 1 day PDS pass is €52 so if you did want to venture further afield just for 2 days of the week it is worth buying the bigger pass so you can be flexible.
Our Destination page http://www.rschaletcollection.com/destinations-portes-du-soleil/ is full of facts and information on each resort so make sure you take a look and see what the Portes du Soleil has to offer. You can also download your PDS, Morzine and Avoraiz Piste maps so you will have all bases covered wherever you end up.
Don’t forget that we can have your ski pass ready and waiting for you in the chalet on your arrival - no hassle, no waiting around in queues at the ticket office...so you can enjoy more time on the slopes.
